Five elements of matter make up the earth and our bodies.

1. Gas, the element of air

3. Liquid, the element of water

4. Solid, the element of earth

Many pagan cultures celebrate the first four elements as well as spirit. The fifth, ether, is a highly flammable liquid in its chemical form. Could it be the fire in all of us? Theosophy states that ether is a component in all human life, metaphysically speaking. We all have an etheric body surrounding us. The first five elements give us, and the earth, body. These last two elements give the earth, our bodies, and every living thing, spirit or life. When our spirit, the electromagnetic energy, leaves our bodies, they die. If all the electromagnetic energy were removed from the earth, the earth would die. Our spirit gives us life as we know it. How do we get the most out of that life?
