My School.

I study atin gymnasium No.41. Our school is not very modern, but it is good. There are three Ifloors in our school. Our class is on the third floor. It is large and light. There are a lot of flowers, English classes begin in the first form. In the fifth form we have got three Eng­lish classes a week. Besides, wWe have got a lot of othermany subjects on the timetable. They are: Russian, Litera­ture, Maths, History, Nature Study, P.E., Handicraft, Music, and Art.

At the lessons in Russian we learn grammar rules, write exercises and dictations. At the lessons in Litera­ture we read the works of Russian and foreign writers and poets and analyse them. We learn and recite poems and write compositions.

At the English lessons we speak English. We speak on different topics, make up and learn dia­logues, learn and recite poems. WeWe read and translate English texts, reproduce them and put questions to them. We also learn grammar rules, write grammar tests, dictations, reproductions, and compositions.

I like Maths. We do sums and count, add, subtract, multiply and divide. We also study the history of our country, learn a lot of interest­ing things about nature in our school. At the lessons in Music we listen to music and sing songs, in Art we draw pictures.

I like to visit lessons in Handicraft. Girls learn there to sew, knit and cook tasty things. P.E. lessons are to per­form different physical exercises and play sport games. When the weather is fine, we have classes outdoors.

I like to study because I learn new and interesting things. My favourite subject is English. I like it because thanks to English I can speak English with my friends who live in the USA and Great Britain, write letters to my pen-friends and read English books. But I think that all subjects are important.

School not only gives us knowledge of different subjects, it teaches us how to get on with other children, how to understand each other better, how to be good friends.

In Russia school begins at the age of seven. Sometimes it begins at the age of six. Children leave their schools at the age of eighteen.

In Russia school year begins in September after summer holidays. Pupils take their bags and go to school.

Pupils in Russia have classes five days a week. Children usually have six or seven lessons. They have lunch too. Children see their lessons on the timetable. There are usually Maths, Russian language, Handicraft, Art, History, Music and Sport. In Russian schools children with their teacher celebrate different holidays. They draw posters and put them on the walls. In many schools children wear uniform.

After lessons children come home. They say «Good Buy!» and go out. Sometimes children visit museums and interesting places.

Schools in England.

England has got very interesting sys­tem of education. There are some state schools in England. They are infant schools, junior schools and secondary schools.

British boys and girls begin to go to school at the age of 5. They draw pictures, sing songs, play games, listen to the stories and tales. British children begin to read and write when they enter the infant schools.

Then at the age of 7 they begin to study at junior schools where they learn to write, to read and to do mathematics.

Boys and girls have got many interesting school subjects. They are History, English, Geography, Mathematics, Art, Music Sport, Computing, Cooking. Boys and girls study at junior schools for four years. Then they take their exams and enter the secondary schools. There are some types of secondary schools in England. They are: grammar schools, mod­ern schools and comprehensive schools.

English boys and girls go to a secondary school from 11 till 16 years old. They don't go to school on Saturdays and Sundays.

There are some private schools in England. Boys and girls don't study together at these schools. The sons of the aristocra­cy go to public schools and their parents pay much money for their education.

Pupils have school uniforms in England. It is an old tradition in the country. A boy's uniform consists of a special suit, a school cap, a tie and a blazer. A girl's uniform consists of a hat, a coat, a skirt and a blouse. As usual their uniform is dark.

My hobby.

What is a hobby? It is what you like to do in your free time. Hobbies differ like tastes. The most popular hobbies among children are: collecting computer games, postcards, coins, music, drawings and so on.

Children collecting computer games like to play computer. They buy disks and swap them with their friends. Many children like to play the piano or the guitar. They do it with great pleasure.

You can collect stamps and study different countries by them, or even (даже) history or nature of these countries. It’s very interesting.

If children like photography they can take pictures of their friends, family and nature. Some children like to spend their free time in the countryside. They are fond of nature. Their hobby is gardening or growing flowers.

Many people are fond of hunting, but not with guns. They do it with camera.

So some people think that hobbies help children to choose their future profession.
