The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland consists of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The capital of England is London. London is the capital of The United Kingdom as well. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. The capital of Wales is Cardiff. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. The official language is English. The head of the state is the Queen Elizabeth II but it is ruled by the government.

The United Kingdom has a long and exciting history. Nowadays it is a highly developed country. It has a lot of interesting places to visit.

For example you can visit Liverpool. The city is the birthplace of Beatles and you can visit the Beatles museum here. Also there is a fantastic modern cathedral.

Another interesting place is Salisbury. It is a beautiful old city and there is an amazing medieval cathedral. Also it is near Stonehenge – a huge monument from the Stone Age.

If you are interested in drama, visit Stratford-Upon-Avon, because it is a birthplace of Shakespeare. Here you can enjoy a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

York is a beautiful old city and it has a magnificent medieval cathedral. Moreover if you are interested in trains, you can visit The Railway Museum. It is a great place to visit.

Snowdonia is a beautiful area of coast and mountains in Wales. It is a great place for outdoor activities like sailing, climbing, trekking and canoeing.

The Highlands is in Scotland. It is a wild and romantic area. Here you can go up Britain’s highest mountain Ben Nevis or look for the monster in a world-famous lake Loch Ness.

Cambridge is famous for its old university. There are a lot of old and beautiful buildings, for example, King’s College or Trinity College. =

Most people believe that it’s important to look nice. However, some people don’t care about their appearance. They think that it’s a waste of money.

On the one hand, fashion is a thing that we have to keep up with. If somebody wants to make an impression of a successful person, he or she must look nice.

If you want to look good, there are some fashion tips.

· First, you should know what is fashionable now. Puffy \pʌfi\ skits, formal dresses, coats, short shoes, sweatshirts, waistcoats are trendy for girls. Smart suits, shirts, trousers, plain jumpers, ties and bow-ties and definitely IN for boys. Jeans, trainers and T-shirts are OUT.

· Second, don’t be in a hurry and have a good look in a shop. Compare prices. Some shops are cheaper but they have more fashionable clothes than expensive shops.

· Finally, think about your body and your personality. For example, for mini-skirt you need really good legs. And you’d better not to buy long jumper if you aren’t very tall. Outgoing people usually wear brighter clothes, and shy people wear darker colours.

But on the other hand, it is a waste of money. Nowadays, fashion industry is an expensive one. Some people don’t have a good taste but they want to look stylish. So they buy a lot of accessories, bags, purses, glasses, jewelers, hats but they look silly.

If you ask me, I am not crazy about fashion. I usually wear smart or formal clothes. I enjoy wearing sport clothes because it’s comfortable. Also in my list of likes there are jeans, sweaters, trainers. I think we should buy clothes according to our personality and body. And don’t judge a book by its cover.
