Kul Sharif mosque Architectural complex of the mosque includes a museum, a library, a publishing house and imam administration.
Kazan city municipality The office of Kazan city Municipality is situated in the central street of the city – Kremlyovskaya street. The building is an architectural monument, it is decorated with the image of Zilant.
Suyumbike Tower A legendary architectural monument, connected with numerous historical legends. View of the Dmitrievskaya Tower of the Kazan Kremlin and Annunciation Cathedral (Благовещенский собор).
Mussa Dzhalil Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre The theatre hosts numerous festivals, among which famous Fedor Shalyapin Opera festival and Rudolf Nuriev Ballet festival. View of Pushkin and Karl Marx streets.
Kul Sharif mosque Main entrance. The mosque cupola is decorated with the details of “Kazan cap” – the crown of Kazan khans. The square in front of the mosque can host 10 thousand people.
Liberty square Buildings of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan State Technical Aircraft College, Kazan City Hall and State Conservatory create a unique architectural ensemble, though they were constructed at different periods of time.
Victory Park The stele in the entrance of the park is visited by people, who want to honor fallen soldiers, laying wreaths and flowers during military parades. The park is surrounded with newly built residential area.
Eternal Flame The eternal flame memorial is situated in Victory park. Column monument is decorated with memorial plaque with the names of the heroes. By tradition newlyweds visit the Eternal flame in their wedding day.
Victory Park In the park you can see a wide range of military machines, tanks, airplanes and carriers. Entrance to the exposition is free and one can take a photo and touch the exhibits.
“TatneftArena” sports palace It is famous not only for hosting the matches of the legendary “Ak Bars” hockey team, but also for concerts of world stars.
Millennium Bridge The bridge connects the left and right banks of the Kazanka river. According to the project the right bank of the river will become a large-scale recreation area. Today it is the place of location of the “Riviera” entertainment complex, which includes the highest hotel in Tatarstan.
The park near “Kazan” National culture center From the park near National culture center we can enjoy the panorama of the right bank of the Kazanka river and Millennium bridge, which was built in honor of Kazan millennium.
Ulyanov-Lenin Kazan State University The main building of Kazan State University is situated in the main street of Kazan – Kremlyovskaya street. In front of it there is a park, which is known as “Skovorodka (frying pan)” and it is a traditional recreation place for students.
Kachalov Kazan Academic Russian Great Drama Theatre The theatre is situated in a pedestrian street of Kazan – Bauman street. In front of the theatre you can see a publishing house and one of the attractions favourite among guests of the city – carriage of Catherine II epoch style.
River Port Kazan River port performs passenger, tourist and cargo transportation along the largest Russian river – the Volga River. Annually the river port meets numerous tourist ships from different Russian cities.
Peter’s and Paul’s Cathedral The cathedral is situated in the historical centre of the city on the hill that gives this architectural monument a more grand look. This cathedral was visited by all Russian emperors, beginning from Catherine II. Main relic of the cathedral is miracle-working Smolensk – Seven Lakes icon of the Mother of God.
"Korston" hotel and a mall It is one of the largest malls of the city, which includes brand stores, conference-halls, the hotel, the cinema, restaurants and cafés. The complex is situated in one of the central traffic arteries of the city.
Shalyapin Palace Hotel In 2005 famous Kazan hotel "Sovet" was turned to a high-class hotel “Shalyapin”, which received its name because of the monument to legendary opera singer, which is set in the yard of the hotel.
"Kyrlay" amusement park Park is equipped with modern rides and operates all the year round. Here you can have a ride, visit restaurants and cafes, take part in different actions and dance in the dance-floor.
Railway station Kazan is a part of Gorky railway, which is one of the largest Russian main lines, through which trains go to the Siberia, Far East and central part of Russia. The railway station building is an architectural monument of the XIX century.
KAZAN
Kazan was officially founded in the year 1005. It was a power centre of the Golden Horde. Today Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. Tatars, the descendants (потомки) of the Golden Horde, make up about 43 % (per cent) of the city's population and maintain (сохраняют) their own culture and language. The Tatar people are very proud (гордятся) of their history. The local people are very friendly, helpful and keen to show off (рады показать) their city. The 1000 year anniversary (годовщина) celebration (празднование) in 2005 was a major event (главное событие).
The great upcoming (предстоящий) event is Universiade 2013. Kazan is a very attractive city, most famous for its Kremlin and its University. With its numerous (многочисленные) mosques (мечети) and churches its unlike (не похож) any Russian city. Built on the intersection (слияние) of two rivers, Kazan is a memorable (памятный) place to visit.
