TEXT A About Myself.
Let me introduce myself. My full name is Ivanova Olga Vladimirovna. Ivanova is my family name. Olga is my christian name and Vladimirovna is my patronymic. I am under 18. But in some months I’ll come of age. People say that I look like my Granny especially about thick curly hair and full lips. And my mother is sure that the most attractive thing about my face is a small turned-up nose and long thick lashes. I am neither short nor tall and have a slender figure and a light step. As for my character I take after my father. That’s why I am reasonable and persistent. You can see it from my career. At school I liked English more than all other subjects though it was difficult for me to study it. So I decided to enter the Foreign Languages Department of the University and now I am a student of the extra-mural department. I understand how important it is to study well and I shall work hard to become a good specialist. I am a rather sociable person and I have many friends. They say that I am a bit stubborn and hot-tempered but all in all rather easy going. I try to be a reliable person and not to let my friends down. My hobby is literature. I have a good library and can read for hours and I discuss what I have read with my friends.
TEXT B. My Family
It’s very important for everybody to have a friendly family. We need our dearest people who love and understand us, and are ready to help us when we need it. My parents have one more child besides me. My sister, whose name is Helen, is 5 years older than I. Some years ago she got married and now has a family of her own. She neither works nor studies, because she is a housewife and takes care of her husband Vladimir and her pretty little daughter Ann. My sister is good-natured and easy-going and at the same time she is serious and reasonable. She can always give me a good advice. My mother is 53 but she looks young for her age because she looks after her appearance. She always has her hair set and her nails done. My mother is a good wife. She runs the household well and manages to do everything in time. She is sociable and has many friends. My father is 55. He is tall, slender and well-built. He is a real picture of health because he always begins his morning with jogging and a cold shower. He is a real head of our family and can find a way out of all difficulties. His friends and colleagues respect him because he always keeps his word and never lets them down. Besides my closest relatives we have a lot of distant relatives on my mother’s and father’s sides. We are a happy friendly family.
TEXT C.
My Friend’s Family
People can’t be happy living alone. Almost everybody has a good friend. That is a person who has common interest with you, who is ready to help when you are in trouble. And I am not an exception. I have a friend whose name is Helen. She is a pretty girl of 18, tall, slim and well-built. She is fair-complexioned and has an open face which is a bit plump but very nice and delicate. But the most attractive thing about her face is her big clear eyes. Helen carefully looks after her appearance. She wears a fashionable hair-cut and is smartly-dressed. Speaking about her character I must say that she is very reasonable and can find a way out of any difficulty. Besides she is a born-teller and I always enjoy her company. We have much in common as we are both fond of music and literature. I often visit my friend’s place. That’s why I know her family well. Helen’s father is about 45. Though he has grown grey he looks young for his age because he is a real picture of health. He is tall and well-built. He is well-educated and business-like that’s why his colleagues respect him. At the same time he is good-natured and easy-going and always helps Helen’s mother about the house. His wife’s name is Nina. She is 40 and she looks her age. She is a charming woman with clear blue eyes and thick goldish hair. She is an excellent housewife, a perfect wife and a loving mother. Though she has a lot of work on hand she finds a kind word for everybody.
