Topic 3. My breakfast, lunch and dinner

Every person has his own idea of a perfect house.

I usually have two or three meals a day on weekdays and four meals on my day off. I don't often have an opportunity to have a dinner when I'm at school. My meals are: breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper or tea.

Some of my friends have a snack rather than a meal in the morning. But my breakfast is a full meal and I have it at 7 o'clock. It is usually bacon and eggs. Afterwards come sandwiches with butter and cheese or sausages, or sometimes jam. Then I drink tea or coffee.

I have lunch at about 12 o'clock. It starts with fruit juice. Then I have a vegetable salad and sandwiches again or pies with tea.

Dinner is at three or four o'clock. For dinner I have soup or borsch for starter, and meat or fish with a lot of vegetables for main course. For dessert I often have stewed fruit or jelly.

And at last supper. It is at seven or eight. My mother usually cooks fried fish and mashed potatoes, beefsteak and omelette. And salads, of course. Then I prefer a glass of warm milk with biscuits. Sometimes before going to bed I drink orange juice or eat an apple.

Topic 4. Winter in my country

Winter is a wonderful time of the year. I can even say that it’s my favourite season. Many people don’t like snow, whereas I love it. Moreover, I’m a fan of winter sports. During the winter months I go ice-skating, skiing and sledding. Ice-skating is my favourite sport. My parents took me to figure-skating classes when I was still very young. At the age of 10 or 11 I was an excellent skater. I always watch skating competitions on TV. My favourite Russian figure-skater is Evgeni Plushenko. He was a three-time World champion and seven-time European champion. Another reason why I love winter is the two-week holidays, of course. During these holidays I spend a lot of time with my friends and I visit my relatives. Traditionally, we make a snowman in the street.

Topic 5. My day at school

On week days I get my alarm-clock for a quarter past seven but I get up at half-past seven. It takes me about ten minutes to wash and get dressed and then I go downstairs and have breakfast. Usually for breakfast I drink a cup of tea and have some marmalade and a toast. Then quickly I sort out my books for the day and meet my friend at the corner of my street at ten past eight.

By twenty past eight we are at school and we are able to talk to out friends for twenty minutes before we have to go to our separate classes for registration at twenty minutes to nine. At nine o’clock our lessons start. They last for forty-five minutes but then at eleven o’clock we have mid-morning breakfast for twenty minutes and then have one more lesson before lunch-time.

At twenty past twelve we have a lunch break and usually we all sit in the dining-hall and eat our sandwiches with our friends, or a few of us have school dinner. If the weather is I nice we sit in the playground and eat our lunch there. We have two lessons from half-past one to half-past three and then it is home-time.
