1. Привітання та поздоровлення учнів із початком нового навчального року.

Hello, my dear students! I’m very glad to see you after summer holi­days. Take my greetings with the beginning of the new academic year. Now, you are the ninth formers, that's why I suggest you to pay special attention to the examinations and ways of preparing for it.

2. Ознайомлення із завданнями та цілями навчання у 9-му класі.

This year we are going to dive in a lot of interesting themes, such as "A Teenager's World", "Environmental Protection", "Mass Media", "Pre­paring for the Future", "Britain". We'll speak about teenager's way of life, your hobbies and friends. We'll also travel around Ukraine and Brit­ain and learn more about these countries.

Today we will speak about summer holidays. We are going to revise words, phrases, expressions, repeat The Present Simple and Past Simple Tenses in Active and Passive and discuss your summer holidays.

T: Listen to and read Langston Hughes's poem and practise the sounds /і:/ and /аі/.

T: Look at the pictures where a teenager has drawn his life in different pe­riods, complete the sentences about him and describe his activities.

As I can see, Val leads an active way of life.

It means that he goes in for sports every day and goes roller-skating in the evenings.

No doubt he is concerned about his health.

Playing guitar is one of his likings.

He is specific about jigsaw puzzle in bad weather.

I think Val sticks up for his friends because he is strong and clever.

The boys spend tremendous amount of time playing computer games on Sunday.

I think Val is not a "thumb boy" as he is involved in different kinds of activities.

In my opinion this teenager never felt a bit down and always cheers his friends up.

I feel jealous about his incredible life experience.
