Listen to and read the part of Robert Frostʼs poem "The Road not Taken" and practise the sounds /on/ and /ai/. Say what message the poet tried to convey. Do you share his ideas? Rhyme and Reason. WB p. 71 (a) Form the rhyming pairs, using the words from the box. Practise saying them.

If I want to have a good picture for my documents I'll contact a photographer. If I have problems with my teeth I'll contact a dentist. If I want to have a new suit I'll contact a tailor / dressmaker. If I want to do my hair I'll contact a barber / hairdresser. If I want to know more about laws I'll contact a lawyer. SB p. 157(d) Work in trios. Read the teen job advertisement in a British newspaper and the information of three applicants. Choose the best suited candidate for the job. Give reasons for your choice. WB p. 74 (d) In the boxes below draw symbols for three jobs that you have ever considered as your career choices. Describe their pluses, minuses and interesting points in writing.

My mom wants a new dress; she goes to our neighbour Lucy Grant, who is a well-known dressmaker. Lucy wanted to get a profession of a designer, but couldn't go to university. So she enjoys her job. I think she is well-suited to it.

Judging by the teenagers' experience, say what prospects for the future they have after finishing school. Which of them appeals to you most and why?

1) Carol can always get a student loan. She hopes she will be able to save up some money so that she could then go to university. And if the worst comes to worst and she really doesn't enjoy her work and wants to get back to studying, she can always get a student loan that she pays back later. 2) Kevin refuses to follow in anyone’s footsteps. He'll base his life around surfing in every possible way. He wants to do exactly what he is doing right now. He doesn't want to see the world in the movies or read about it in books. He wants to see it himself, smell it, hear it and feel it. He refuses to follow in anyone's footsteps. 3) Paul has found a job that answers all the traditional requirements. job satisfaction, career possibilities, good working conditions and stability. This assured him that he wanted to go into this profession.
Your Language Portfolio: Reading. WB p. 75 (b) From the same text write out the information which proves that: •There are many right ways... •It is important to show independence... •Experience is a dear school...
1) There are many right ways to go to the university: to have high A-level, to save up money, to get a student loan. 2) It is important to show independence because future employers love it. 3) Experience is a dear school because you can develop your skills and find out if you like this working environment.

WB p. 73 (c) Translate into English. 1. — What do you want to do in the future? — I have an ambition to become an airhostess. —What should you do to reach the goal? — I suppose first of all I should be tolerant and polite to the passangers, even if they are not kindly behavoured. 2. — Why do you decide to learn another one language? ― If you know some languages you'll have more opportunities for making careers in different sectors. ― Don't you think as well as high level of knowledge of a native language? ― I'm dead sure you are right. 3.— Are you computer literate? ― Yes, I am. I have an experience in working with different software. — In what way does it help you in the future? ― I follow my dream to become a computer programmer, so I must wield all the up-to-date technologies.
